Vitamin B12
Hey ladies,
It’s that time again, so I thought I would feed you some information on B12.
I suffer this time of the year with fatigue and headaches – I am sure it’s the season change.
So I make sure I get my B12 jab. I actually have just done this before writing this blog! Feeling a little better already. It’s like magic!
There are a lot of questions people ask me, so here is some information on B12.
Vitamin B12 Shots Are Very Effective
Injections are usually given as hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin. These are very effective at raising blood levels of B12 and preventing/reversing a deficiency.
Bottom Line: if you are deficient in vitamin B12, then the injections are very effective at raising your blood levels.
B12 injections work quickly; they are the most effective way for your body to absorb vitamin B12. Within 48 to 72 hours, your body will begin to make new red blood cells.
For mild deficiencies, you may need two to three injections over several weeks to notice peak impact.
How do you feel when your B12 is low?
Constipation, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, or gas. Nerve problems like numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, problems walking, vision loss, mental problems like depression, memory loss, or behavioural changes.
Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia can cause a wide range of symptoms. These usually develop gradually, but can worsen if the condition goes untreated:
- extreme tiredness (fatigue)
- lack of energy (lethargy)
- breathlessness.
- feeling faint
- headaches
- pale skin
- noticeable heartbeats (palpitations)
What vitamins get rid of headaches?
Several studies have shown that the B vitamin supplements riboflavin (B2), folate, B12 and pyridoxine (B6) may reduce headache symptoms. B-complex vitamins contain all eight of the B vitamins and are a safe, cost-effective way to naturally treat headache symptoms.
How will I feel after a B12 injection?
The injection is given into a muscle (known as an intramuscular injection). You may have some pain, swelling or itching where your injection was given. However this is usually mild and will wear off quite quickly.
How long does a B12 shot last?
Generally, the results of vitamin B12 injections can last about one week, but it is vital to have this administered by a healthcare provider.
Also, the healthcare provider will determine the appropriate B12 dosage, depending on the current medical condition and diet.
Hope that helps, it’s important to look after your health (even if we do not feel it’s working, it is!) So never doubt vitamins and supplements – work with them and make sure you get the right ones for your lifestyle.
It’s so important to look after our health these days as foods we eat are just not giving us the amount of vitamins we need, due to over-farming. Also, we are working our bodies hard with stress, anxiety and fears that have really taken place since Covid.
B12 also helps with anxiety and stress. So I hope this helps you.
We have been training in B12 for a while and it would be good to see more and more students taking the courses to help others.
We are not always what we eat nowadays as the vitamins are just not as enriched in our foods as they used to be. So have a think about boosting your health.
Have a great day,
Love Sarah
